The Fuzzy Stage and Spot Development
The Fuzzy Stage
Bengal kittens are usually born with a beautiful coat that shows their rosettes and contrast very well (longhair carriers can be born fuzzy).
Around 4-8 weeks they grow guard hairs with white tips on the ends called guard hairs that obscure their markings making them look washed out.
These guard hairs fall out between between 3-5 months leaving them looking stunning once again.
The picture above is as she was just entering the fuzzy stage.
The next pictures you can see how faded her markings appeared at 14 weeks and how much clearer and well contrasted they look at 5 months old.

Spot Development
If you look at the first picture above you will see how close and undefined her spots look. As Bengals grow, their coats stretch out and their rosettes become clear and well outlined. This also depends on the size, line and style of rosette.
